اعتبر الكاتب السياسي والأستاذ الجامعي شارل شرتوني، أنّ لبنان دخل مرحلة جديدة وحاسمة، داعياً الدولة اللبنانية إلى تحمّل مسؤولياتها، بما في ذلك توقيف نعيم قاسم في حال كان متواجداً على الأراضي اللبنانية وقطع أي تواصل له مع الجمهور. وأشار شرتوني إلى غياب رئيس مجلس الوزراء، واصفاً الحكومة اللبنانية بالمفككة، معتبراً أنّ مواقع حزب الله منتشرة على الأراضي اللبنانية بتغطية من الجيش على مدى سنوات وعهود كثيرة. ورأى أنّ البلاد تتجه نحو سيناريو حرب شاملة، لافتاً إلى أنّ “الآلية وُضعت”، فيما وصف الرسائل الدبلوماسية المتبادلة بين عباس عراقجي وويتكوف بأنها “تدور في الفراغ”. وفي سياق متصل، قال شرتوني إنّ نعيم قاسم “بوق فارغ”، معتبراً أنّ النظام الإيراني متآكل داخلياً، وأنّ إسرائيل ستسعى إلى ردع حزب الله ومنعه من إسناد إيران. كما أشار إلى أنّ الاستحقاقات المقبلة ستتضح عند زيارة قائد الجيش إلى واشنطن. وانتقد شرتوني أداء الطبقة السياسية، معتبراً أنّ نبيه بري ونجيب ميقاتي ووليد جنبلاط وفؤاد السنيورة “يبحثون في كيفية تقاسم المكاسب”، واصفاً الجمهورية اللبنانية بأنها “جمهورية موز” تُحكم من قبل “قطاع طرق”.
وكشف شرتوني عن حديث جدي في الكواليس حول سلام محتمل بين لبنان وإسرائيل، مشيراً إلى أنّ قائد الجيش سيُبلّغ بذلك رسمياً، في وقت تبقى فيه الخيارات البديلة مطروحة ومفتوحة، لافتاً إلى أنّ إسرائيل تسعى إلى منطقة اقتصادية.

Political writer and university professor Charles Chartouni said that Lebanon has entered a new and decisive phase, calling on the Lebanese state to assume its responsibilities, including arresting Naim Qassem if he is present on Lebanese territory and cutting off any communication between him and the public. Chartouni pointed to the absence of the Prime Minister, describing the Lebanese government as fragmented, and considered that Hezbollah’s positions have been spread across Lebanese territory for many years and successive eras under the cover of the army.
He believed that the country is heading toward a scenario of comprehensive war, noting that “the mechanism has been put in place,” and described the diplomatic messages exchanged between Abbas Araghchi and Witkoff as “going nowhere.” In a related context, Chartouni said that Naim Qassem is an “empty mouthpiece,” considering that the Iranian regime is internally eroding, and that Israel will seek to deter Hezbollah and prevent it from supporting Iran.
He also indicated that the upcoming milestones will become clearer during the visit of the Army Commander to Washington. Chartouni criticized the performance of the political class, considering that Nabih Berri, Najib Mikati, Walid Jumblatt, and Fouad Siniora are “looking into how to divide the spoils,” describing the Lebanese Republic as a “banana republic” ruled by “bandits.”
Chartouni revealed serious backstage talk about a possible peace between Lebanon and Israel, noting that the Army Commander will be officially informed of this, while alternative options remain on the table and open. He added that Israel is seeking an economic zone.
