Dr. Walid Phares to Fox BC: “Iran is trying to use and abuse the cause of Middle East Christians persecution”

In an interview with Fox Business Channel Dr Walid Phares said “the Iranian regime is spending millions of dollars to use and abuse the cause of Middle East Christian persecution.”
Citing an article in the Wall Street Journal which interviewed Lebanese Christians who claimed they would seek Hezbollah protection against ISIS, Phares said “many elements from the community were already allies of the Assad regime and thus of Hezbollah, they do not represent the bulk of the community. The Christian people of Lebanon was defeated and disarmed in 1990 at the hands of Syria’s regime.”
But Phares warned that the Lebanese Christians, if confronted by Jihadi terror aiming at slaughtering them, would accept support and arms from anyone. In the past they accepted support from Israel and now some would accept support from Hezbollah if it would be severe.”
He also said that “while Christians are crushed in Iraq and Syria, many foundations and advocacy groups in the West hold raise their voices but action still is lacking.”
