The Miracle of Saint Charbel with the Son of Rashid Bey!

A well-dressed knight arrived at the hermitage of Annaya, visibly agitated. He immediately approached Father Charbel, saying:
“The director of Ehmej, Rashid Bey Khoury, requests your presence, and I have word from the head of the household that he permits you to accompany me.”
Father Charbel replied:
“I will accompany you when evening comes.”
The messenger responded:
“But the patient is in critical condition and cannot wait.”
“I am going, but I don’t want anyone to see me.”
The messenger walked ahead of him, a considerable distance, to clear the way.
After an hour’s walk, across Mount Awaini and the vineyards of Ehmej, Father Charbel arrived before a grand palace. The servants and the Bey’s men craned their necks to see what had happened to the monk. One of the servants said:
“Alas, the Bey’s son is in critical condition; they have brought the priest to him.” One of the Bey’s men remarked:
“Najib is their only son. This fever, typhus, no doctor has been able to cure him.”
As for the maids, as soon as they saw Father Charbel approaching, they hid themselves so as not to embarrass him, following the messenger’s instructions, which Charbel had alerted him to. One maid whispered to her companion:
“Look, look, that monk! He’s all wrapped up in his clothes, covered with his hood, and his head bowed. He’s afraid we’ll eat him!”
The other replied, laughing:
“He’s afraid to see us and be tempted.”
The knight who walked ahead of them tried to silence them, saying:
be quite, the lady sent for him. They say this monk is a saint.”
The messenger announced the monk’s arrival. Rashid Bey greeted him at the entrance, bowing and attempting to kiss his hand, but he was unable to do so. “Glory to God, Father.”
Father Charbel, as usual, his gaze lowered to the ground, said, “May God bless you. Where is the sick man?”
The sick man’s mother was sobbing. She said to him, “Father, we have no hope left but in you and in God.”
“I am a sinner,” he said. “Trust in God; He will provide.”
Father Charbel entered the sick man’s room, took water, blessed it, sprinkled it on the boy’s forehead, and prayed over him. The boy awoke immediately, opened his eyes, and exclaimed, “Father Charbel!”
Then he said to his parents, “By the power of God, your son is well.”
He then bid them farewell and returned to his monastery. As for the sick man, the fever had left him, and he was completely cured.
Rashid Bey followed him and wanted to give him a charitable offering to celebrate Mass for his intentions. But Father Charbel refused, saying:
“I celebrate the Masses; give the alms to the abbot. the head of thehermitage
Upon returning to his hermitage, when night had fallen, Father Charbel rushed into the church and, losing himself in prayer, knelt with his hands crossed. At midnight, he was quick to ring the bell for the call to prayer.
