أشارك سعادة سفير إسرائيل في الولايات المتحدة، السيد يحيئيل لايتر، ألمه العميق بعد إصابة نجله بجروح خطيرة أمس في هجوم دهس وقع في إسرائيل، وهو الذي سبق أن فقد نجله الآخر في حرب غزة.
أتمنى لابنه الشفاء العاجل والكامل، وأن يعود سالماً إلى عائلته.
إن السفير لايتر معروف بدعمه للسلام، وهو يرأس وفد بلاده في محادثات السلام مع لبنان، وما جرى هو اعتداء على السلام نفسه ومحاولة لاستهداف كل من يعمل من أجل ترسيخه.
“طُوبَى لِصَانِعِي السَّلَامِ، لأَنَّهُمْ أَبْنَاءَ اللهِ يُدْعَوْنَ.” (متى 5: 9)

An Attack on Peace: Praying for the Recovery of the Son of Israel’s Ambassador to Washington, Mr. Yechiel Leiter

I share the deep pain of Israel’s Ambassador to Washington, Mr. Yechiel Leiter, following the serious injuries sustained by his son in a vehicle-ramming attack in Israel yesterday. Ambassador Leiter had previously lost another son during the war in Gaza.
I pray for his son’s full and speedy recovery and for his safe return to his family.
Ambassador Leiter is known for his commitment to peace and currently leads his country’s delegation in the peace talks with Lebanon. What occurred was not only an attack on an individual, but also an attack on the very spirit of peace and on those who strive to advance it.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
