A member of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) Jomathan Bektolia declared that Iran “gives special significance to the rights of various religious groups.” He blasted “US and its allies for remaining silent vis a vis the massacre of innocent women and children in Gaza, Syria and Iraq.” He added “condemning critics of Iran for its human rights record, the Assyrian MP stressed, Those who accuse Iran of human rights violation are against the country’s progress and cannot tolerate its popularity among world nations.”
Responding to the statement, John Hajjar, spokesperson for the Middle East Christian Committee MECHRIC said “this is another example of modern day Dhimmi politicians who are acting in defense of oppressive regimes like Iran’s Khomeinists. He must have not heard of the many Pastors and Christian activists assassinated, jailed and tortured. He must have not heard of the tens of thousands of Christians massacred in Lebanon at the hands of Tehran’s allies, the Assad regime and Hezbollah. He attacks the United States for not intervening in Hamas-dominated Gaza, in Assad ruled Syria and in Iranian influence Iraq. Betkolia is serving the interests of the Iranian Islamist regime not defending the identity of Middle East Christians. He is part of the regime. This is a modern political form of Dhimmitude, a collaboration with the oppressing regime.”

Assyrian member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Jonathan Betkolia said Iran is the most stable place for religious minorities as its government gives special significance to the rights of various religious groups. In a time when Takfiri groups raised by world arrogant powers were slaughtering innocent women and children with no mercy for Muslims or Christians, Iran has been the only place which supports rights of the religious minorities, Betkolia said Monday evening in an address to a meeting of local religious minorities in this northwestern provincial capital city.
When defenseless religious minorities were burning in fire of Takfiri groups barbarism in Iraq and Syria and when all so-called human rights advocates had closed their doors to them, it was only Iran that accepted those refugees with enthusiasm, said the Assyrian MP who is also Secretary General of the International Association of Assyrians.
He also criticized the US and its allies for remaining silent vis-Ã -vis the massacre of innocent women and children in Gaza, Syria and Iraq.
Condemning critics of Iran for its human rights record, the Assyrian MP stressed, Those who accuse Iran of human rights violation are against the countrys progress and cannot tolerate its popularity among world nations.
