تختصر سيرة الاباتي بولس نعمان المسيرة التاريخية للكنيسة المارونية والروحانية الرهبانية التي كرس لها حياته ومواهبه العديدة وكل ما حباه الله من روح متأهبة للخدمة، والمحبة والغيرة الرسولية التي لا تعرف الكلل. امضى ٨٢ سنة من حياته في الرهبانية اللبنانية المارونية حاملا في كل يوم وعمل روح التطويبات الانجيلية نهجا وتطلبا ضنينا طبع وجهه وداعة، وروحا رسولية متقدة لا تعرف لها حدودا. هذا هو المدخل الحقيقي لفهم السيرة والعمل الذي قام به.
درس الفلسفة واللاهوت والقانون المدني والادب الفرنسي في جامعتي الروح القدس والقديس يوسف اليسوعية في بيروت. من ثم تابع دراساته في التاريخ الكنسي، والاركيولوجيا وتاريخ البدايات المسيحية(Histoire Paléochrétienne) في الجامعة الغريغورية في روما.
الكنيسة المارونية تفتقد قامة كنسية استثنائية طبعت حياتنا الكنسية والوطنية بكل مفاصلها. نفتقدها اليوم خاصة في ظل هذه الازمنة الصعبة وفي ظل المحل الذي يلف أحوالنا. وفاته دعوة لاستنهاض الروح الرسولية التي طبعته ومعاودة العمل انطلاقا من صلاة صاحب المزامير التي تلاها في كل يوم من حياته” قلبا نقيا اخلق في يا الله، وروحا مستقيما جدد في داخلي، لا تطرحني من قدام وجهك، وروحك القدوس لا تنزعه مني”المزمور ٥١

The life of Abbot Boulous Naaman encapsulates the historic journey of the Maronite Church and the monastic spirituality to which he dedicated his life, his many talents, and all that God bestowed upon him of a spirit ever ready for service, love, and tireless apostolic zeal. He spent 82 years of his life in the Lebanese Maronite Order, bearing every day and in every work the spirit of the Evangelical Beatitudes as a path and a cherished aspiration, which imprinted his face with meekness and a fervent apostolic spirit that knew no bounds. This is the true entry point for understanding his life and the work he accomplished.
He studied philosophy, theology, civil law, and French literature at the Holy Spirit University and at Saint Joseph University (Jesuit) in Beirut. He then pursued his studies in Church history, archaeology, and the history of early Christianity (Histoire Paléochrétienne) at the Gregorian University in Rome.
The Maronite Church has lost an exceptional ecclesiastical figure who left his mark on every aspect of our ecclesial and national life. We miss him today especially in these difficult times and amidst the affliction that surrounds our condition. His passing is a call to revive the apostolic spirit that characterized him and to resume work starting from the prayer of the Psalmist which he recited every day of his life: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from before Your face, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me” – Psalm 51.
