Hizballah is not a “national militia” or a “resistance” (in the correct meaning of the words) but a criminal enterprise and a revolutionary group against the nation.
Firstly, a true “militia” has a civic duty to act in defense of the state. A national “militia” is primarily raised from the civilian population whose purpose is (1) to protect its own community, (2) to support the regular armed forces in the country, (3) to engage in rebel activities against an occupier, or (4) to repel invaders in a border area.
These definitions do not apply to Hizballah.
No one is attacking the Shia community in Lebanon to justify a militia to defend them. Actually, it is Hizballah that is putting the Lebanese Shiites at risk from Israel.
Instead of supporting the Lebanese armed forces, Hizballah has undermined national security and the role of the Lebanese Army through illegal border crossings, stockpiling of heavy weaponry, instigation of wars, and a multitude of illegal activities.
At the present time, there are no viable “rebel activities” against any occupier. In its 40 years’ history, Hizballah failed to liberate a single square meter of Shebaa Farms and Ghajar occupied by Israel. To the contrary, Hizballah is surrendering territory to Israel (Lebanese maritime waters). For these reasons, Hizballah lacks the qualifications to liberate.
Also, rather than repelling invaders, Hizballah is instigating wars that invite invaders. Hizballah’s initiation of war in 2006 led to the deployment of an additional 15,000 foreign UN troops in Lebanon, and Hizballah’s declaration of war against Israel in 2023 may cause Israel to reinvade the country.
Secondly, a true “resistance” fights to defeat whomever it considers a foreign enemy. It does not negotiate with or enters into “rules of engagements” with its enemy – and certainly it does not offer thousands of kilometers from the nation’s maritime areas as “gifts” to its enemy.
Thirdly, when an armed group is involved in international drug trafficking and other illegal activities, it is called a criminal organization. When an armed group assassinates prominent individuals, threatens parliamentary candidates running against it, undermines the constitutional frameworks, and seeks to subvert the state or place it under its hegemony, it is considered a “rebel” or a “revolutionary” group against the nation.
Hizballah itself claims to represent the aspirations of the “Islamic Revolution” which was an Iranian revolt against the former pre-Khoneini Iranian government. Similarly, Hizballah is a military revolution against the economic, financial, political, and governmental institutions of Lebanon.
All arguments made by Hizballah sympathizers in terms of “defense against Israel”, even if true, are minimal in comparison to the group’s criminal and subversion activities.
In any case, “defense” is a military term and implies a state of war. “Protect” is the correct terminology when aspiring towards a state of peace. Therefore, Lebanon does not need a “defense strategy” but a “strategy to protect” the country.
Protecting the country requires many aspects other than military force. Even where “defense” or “resistance” is needed, that in itself does not mean that Hizballah is the adequate or the proper organization to undertake such defense or resistance because their leader’s proclaimed obedience is to Iran.
It is not clear how Hizballah celebrates a “liberation day” while it claims that the country is still occupied.
It is not clear how Hizballah “supports” Gaza by instigating a war without clarifying who supports Lebanon in that war.
It is not clear how Hizballah believes in “national co-existence” when it seeks to undermine Christians’ role in the country’s power-sharing system and causes the displacement of Sunnis in Syria to replace them with foreign Shiites.
It is not clear how certain Christians and Sunnis still support this group. If the reason proclaimed is that “Hizballah is against Israel” that does not mean that Hizballah is on your side to justify supporting it. It is also acting against us.
Every Lebanese who voted for Hizballah’s candidates (during a parliamentary or any other election), every Lebanese who voted for a political party that aligned itself with Hizballah, is fully responsible, along with Hizballah, for all the harms being caused to Lebanon.
Despite its weapons, Hizballah is nothing. It acquires power only when you support it, vote for it, or vote for those who align themselves with it. When you assume responsibility for what you do and how you vote, then you are a citizen. Otherwise, you become a follower being led against yourself.

إن حزب الله، بحسب سلوكه، ليس “ميليشيا وطنية” أو “مقاومة” (بالمعنى الصحيح للكلمة) بل مشروع إجرامي ومجموعة ثورية ضد الوطن.
أولا،ً تنشأ “الميليشيا” الوطنية من السكان المدنيين ويكون هدفها (1) حماية مجتمعها، (2) دعم القوات المسلحة النظامية في البلاد، (3) المشاركة في أنشطة عسكرية ضد المحتل، أو (4) لصد الغزاة في منطقة حدودية.
لا تنطبق هذه التعريفات على حزب الله.
لا أحد يهاجم الطائفة الشيعية في لبنان لتبرير وجود ميليشيا تدافع عنهم. وفي الواقع فإن حزب الله هو الذي يعرض الشيعة اللبنانيين للخطر من جانب إسرائيل.
وبدلاً من دعم القوات المسلحة اللبنانية، يقوم حزب الله بتقويض الأمن القومي ودور الجيش اللبناني من خلال معابر حدودية غير شرعية، وتخزين الأسلحة الثقيلة، والتحريض على الحروب، والعديد من الأنشطة غير القانونية.
في الوقت الحاضر، لا توجد عمليات فعالة ضد أي محتل. خلال تاريخه الذي يمتد لأربعين عاماً، فشل حزب الله في تحرير متر واحد مما يعتبره أرضاً محتلة من مزارع شبعا والغجر. بالعكس، حزب الله يعطي إسرائيل (المياه البحرية اللبنانية)، ولا يحرر من إسرائيل. لهذه الأسباب، يفتقد حزب الله إلى المؤهلات اللازمة للتحرير.
وبدلاً من صد الغزاة، يقوم حزب الله بالتحريض على الحروب التي تدعو الغزاة.
فقد أدى بدء حزب الله للحرب في عام 2006 إلى نشر 15 ألف جندي إضافي من قوات الأمم المتحدة الأجنبية في لبنان، وقد يؤدي إعلان حزب الله للحرب ضد إسرائيل في عام 2023 إلى قيام إسرائيل بإعادة غزو البلاد.
ثانياً، «المقاومة» الحقيقية تحارب من أجل هزيمة من تعتبره عدواً خارجياً. وهي لا تتفاوض مع عدوها ولا تدخل في “قواعد اشتباك” معه – وبالتأكيد لا تقدم آلاف الكيلومترات من المناطق البحرية للبلاد “كهدايا” لعدوها.
ثالثا، عندما تتورط جماعة مسلحة في الاتجار الدولي بالمخدرات وغير ذلك من الأنشطة الغير مشروعة، فإنها تعتبر منظمة إجرامية. عندما تغتال جماعة مسلحة شخصيات بارزة، وتهدد المرشحين البرلمانيين الذين يتنافسون ضدها، وتقوض الأطر الدستورية، وتسعى إلى تقويض الدولة أو إخضاعها لهيمنتها، فإنها تعتبر جماعة “متمردة”. بناء على أنشطته، فإن حزب الله ليس “مقاومة” أو “ميليشيا وطنية” بالمعنى الصحيح للكلمة بل ثورة أو منظمة انقلابية ضد الدولة والوطن.
هم أنفسهم يزعمون بأنهم يمثلون تطلعات “الثورة الإسلامية” التي كانت ثورة ضد الحكم في إيران قبل الخميني. وبالمثل، فإن حزب الله هو ثورة عسكرية ضد المؤسسات الاقتصادية والمالية والسياسية والحكومية في لبنان.
إن جميع الحجج التي يقدمها المتعاطفون مع حزب الله فيما يتعلق بـ “الدفاع ضد إسرائيل”، حتى لو كانت صحيحة، هي حجج ضئيلة مقارنة بالأنشطة الإجرامية والتخريبية التي يقوم بها الحزب.
وعلى أية حال، فإن “الدفاع” هو مصطلح عسكري ويعني ضمناً حالة الحرب. “الحماية” هي المصطلح الصحيح عندما نسعى إلى حالة السلام. ولذلك فإن لبنان لا يحتاج إلى «استراتيجية دفاعية» بل إلى «استراتيجية حماية» البلاد.
وحماية البلاد تتطلب جوانب عديدة إلى جانب القوة العسكرية. وحتى عندما تكون هناك حاجة إلى “الدفاع” أو “المقاومة”، فإن هذا في حد ذاته لا يعني أن حزب الله هو المنظمة المناسبة للقيام بمثل هذا الدفاع أو المقاومة لأن قيادة الحزب تعلن الطاعة لإيران.
ليس من الواضح كيف يحتفل حزب الله بـ “يوم التحرير” بينما يدعي أن البلاد لا تزال محتلة.
وليس من الواضح كيف “يدعم” حزب الله غزة من خلال التحريض على الحرب دون توضيح من يدعم لبنان في تلك الحرب.
ليس من الواضح كيف يؤمن حزب الله بـ “التعايش الوطني” عندما يسعى إلى تقويض دور المسيحيين في نظام تقاسم السلطة في البلاد ويتسبب في تهجير السنة في سوريا واستبدالهم بالشيعة الأجانب.
وليس من الواضح كيف لا يزال بعض المسيحيين والسنة يدعمون هذه المجموعة. فإذا كان السبب المعلن هو أن «حزب الله ضد إسرائيل» فهذا لا يعني أن حزب الله يقف إلى جانبكم لتبرير دعمه. فهو أيضاً ضدكم!
كل لبناني صوت لمرشحي حزب الله (أثناء الانتخابات البرلمانية أو أي انتخابات أخرى)، كل لبناني صوت لحزب سياسي كان في تحالف مع حزب الله، يتحمل المسؤولية الكاملة، إلى جانب حزب الله، عن كل الأضرار التي تلحق بلبنان.
على الرغم من أسلحته، فإن حزب الله لا شيء.
فهو لا يكتسب القوة إلا عندما تدعمه، أو تصوت له، أو تصوت لمن يتحالف معه. عندما تتحمل مسؤولية ما تفعله وكيف تصوت، فأنت مواطن. وإلا فإنك تصبح تابعا يقاد ضد نفسه.
