إنجيل القدّيس لوقا11/من52حتى54/:”قالَ الرَبُّ يَسُوع: «أَلوَيْلُ لَكُم، يَا عُلَمَاءَ التَّوْرَاة! لأَنَّكُم حَمَلْتُم مِفْتَاحَ المَعْرِفَة، فَأَنْتُم مَا دَخَلْتُم، وَمَنَعْتُمُ الَّذينَ يَدْخُلُون». وَلَمَّا خَرَجَ يَسُوعُ مِنْ هُنَاك، بَدَأَ الكَتَبَةُ وَالفَرِّيسِيُّونَ يُضْمِرُونَ لَهُ حِقْدًا شَدِيدًا، وَيَسْتَدْرِجُونَهُ إِلى الكَلامِ عَلَى أُمُورٍ كَثِيرَة، وَيَتَرقَّبُونَهُ لِيَصْطَادُوهُ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِنْ فَمِهِ”.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11/52-54/:”Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.’ When he went outside, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be very hostile towards him and to cross-examine him about many things, lying in wait for him, to catch him in something he might say.”

وكانَ بُولُسُ قَدْ صَمَّمَ أَنْ يتَجَاوَزَ أَفَسُسَ بَحْرًا، لِئَلاَّ يُضْطَرَّ أَنْ يتَأَخَّرَ في آسِيَا، لَعَلَّهُ يَصِلُ إِلى أُورَشَلِيمَ يَوْمَ ٱلعَنْصَرَة
سفر أعمال الرسل20/من06حتى16/:”يا إِخوتي، أَبْحَرْنَا مِنْ فِيلِبِّي، بَعْدَ أَيَّامِ ٱلفَطِير، ولَحِقْنَا بِهِم في تُرْوَاس، وَمَكَثْنَا هُنَاكَ سَبْعَةَ أَيَّام. وفي يَوْمِ ٱلأَحَد، ٱجْتَمَعْنَا لِكَسْرِ ٱلخُبْز، فأَخَذَ بُولُسُ يُحَدِّثُهُم، وقَدْ عَزَمَ عَلى ٱلرَّحيلِ في ٱلغَد، وأَطَالَ ٱلحَديثَ حتَّى مُنْتَصَفِ ٱللَّيْل. وكانَ في ٱلعِلِّيَّةِ ٱلَّتِي ٱجْتَمَعْنَا فيها مَصَابيحُ كَثيرَة. وكانَ شابٌّ ٱسْمُهُ إِفْطِيخُس، جَالِسًا علَى ٱلنَّافِذَة، وأَخَذَهُ نُعَاسٌ ثَقيل، بَيْنَمَا كانَ بولُسُ يَسْتَفيضُ في ٱلحَدِيث، حتَّى غَلَبَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّوْم، فَوَقَعَ مِنَ ٱلطَّبَقَةِ ٱلثَّالِثَةِ إِلى ٱلأَسْفَل، وحُمِلَ مَيْتًا. فنَزَلَ بُولُسُ وٱرْتَمَى علَيْه، وضَمَّهُ بَيْنَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ وقَال: «لا تَضْطَرِبُوا، فَنَفْسُهُ فِيه!». ثُمَّ صَعِدَ فَكَسَرَ ٱلخُبْزَ وأَكَل. وحَدَّثَهُم طَويلاً حَتَّى ٱلفَجْر، ومَضَى. وجَاؤُوا بِٱلفَتَى حَيًّا، فَكانَ لَهُم عَزَاءٌ كَبير. أَمَّا نَحْنُ فَسَبَقْنَا بُولُس، وَرَكِبْنا ٱلسَّفينَة، وأَقْلَعْنا إِلى أَسُّس، لِنَأْخُذَ بُولُسَ مَعَنَا مِنْ هُنَاك، كمَا كانَ قَدْ رَتَّب، وهُوَ عَازِمٌ أَنْ يُوافِيَنَا سَيْرًا عَلى ٱلأَقْدَام. ولَمَّا لَحِقَ بِنَا في أَسُّس، أَصْعَدْنَاهُ معَنَا إِلى ٱلسَّفينَةِ وَجِئْنَا إِلى ميتِيلانَة. ومِنْهَا أَبْحَرْنَا في ٱلغَدِ وأَشْرَفْنَا عَلى جَزِيرَةِ خِيُوس. وفي ٱليَوْمِ ٱلتَّالي سِرْنَا بِمُحَاذَاةِ جَزِيرَةِ سَامُوس، وفي ٱليَوْمِ ٱلثَّالِث، بَعْدَ تَوَقُّفٍ في ترُوغِيلِّيُون، وَصَلْنَا إِلى مِيلِيتُس. وكانَ بُولُسُ قَدْ صَمَّمَ أَنْ يتَجَاوَزَ أَفَسُسَ بَحْرًا، لِئَلاَّ يُضْطَرَّ أَنْ يتَأَخَّرَ في آسِيَا، لَعَلَّهُ يَصِلُ إِلى أُورَشَلِيمَ يَوْمَ ٱلعَنْصَرَة”.

For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia; he was eager to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost
Acts of the Apostles 20/06-16/:”But we sailed from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we joined them in Troas, where we stayed for seven days. On the first day of the week, when we met to break bread, Paul was holding a discussion with them; since he intended to leave the next day, he continued speaking until midnight. There were many lamps in the room upstairs where we were meeting. A young man named Eutychus, who was sitting in the window, began to sink off into a deep sleep while Paul talked still longer. Overcome by sleep, he fell to the ground three floors below and was picked up dead. But Paul went down, and bending over him took him in his arms, and said, ‘Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.’
Then Paul went upstairs, and after he had broken bread and eaten, he continued to converse with them until dawn; then he left. Meanwhile they had taken the boy away alive and were not a little comforted. We went ahead to the ship and set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul on board there; for he had made this arrangement, intending to go by land himself. When he met us in Assos, we took him on board and went to Mitylene. We sailed from there, and on the following day we arrived opposite Chios. The next day we touched at Samos, and the day after that we came to Miletus. For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia; he was eager to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.’
