Salome اسم عبري مؤنث سليمان.
يقال أن سالوما ابنة هيروديا Herodias زوجة هيرودس فيلبس، هي التي رقصت في حفلة عيد ميلاد هيرودس أنتيباس عمها غير الشقيق، فسرته، ووعد بقسم أنه مهما طلبت يعطيها. وبناء على مشورة أمها رأس يوحنا المعمدان على طبق؛ لأنه كان يوبخ هيرودس أنتيباس، قائلًا له إنه لا يحل أن تكون له زوجة أخيه (مت 14: 3-11، مرقس 6: 17 –28) . ولا تذكر الأناجيل اسم هذه الصبية، ولكن ذكره يوسيفوس. ونعلم من يوسيفوس أيضًا أنها تزوجت أولًا من عمها فيلبس رئيس ربع تراخونيتس (لو 3: 1) ثم من ابن عمها أرستوبولوس بن هيرودس ملك خالكيس.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 14/01-12./:”At that time Herod the ruler heard reports about Jesus; and he said to his servants, ‘This is John the Baptist; he has been raised from the dead, and for this reason these powers are at work in him.’For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because John had been telling him, ‘It is not lawful for you to have her.’Though Herod wanted to put him to death, he feared the crowd, because they regarded him as a prophet. But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company, and she pleased Herod so much that he promised on oath to grant her whatever she might ask. Prompted by her mother, she said, ‘Give me the head of John the Baptist here on a platter.’ The king was grieved, yet out of regard for his oaths and for the guests, he commanded it to be given; he sent and had John beheaded in the prison. The head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, who brought it to her mother. His disciples came and took the body and buried it; then they went and told Jesus.
I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.
Second Letter to the Corinthians 12/01-10/:”It is necessary to boast; nothing is to be gained by it, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know a person in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows. And I know that such a person whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows was caught up into Paradise and heard things that are not to be told, that no mortal is permitted to repeat. On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses. But if I wish to boast, I will not be a fool, for I will be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it, so that no one may think better of me than what is seen in me or heard from me, even considering the exceptional character of the revelations. Therefore, to keep me from being too elated, a thorn was given to me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.’ So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.
