And he thought to himself, “What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?” Then he said, “I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”But God said to him, “You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?” So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich towards God.’
اقتناء الثروات للمصلحة الذاتيّة أم الاغتناء في سبيل الله؟
المجمع الفاتيكانيّ الثاني/فرح ورجاء (Gaudium et spes)، دستور رعائي في الكنيسة في عالم اليوم، الأعداد 88-90
فليُسهم المسيحيّون، بطيبة خاطر وقلب كبير، في بنيان النظام الدولي الذي يجب أن يتمّ بالاحترام المخلص للحريّات المشروعة، وبروح الأخوّة والصداقة نحو الجميع. وليقوموا بذلك بكثير من الرضى بما أنّ القسم الأكبر من العالم لا يزال يتألّم من البؤس، إلى حدّ أنّ الرّب يسوع المسيح نفسه يبدو في شخص الفقراء، وكأنّه يلتمس الحسنة من تلاميذه بصوت جهير. فلنتجنّب إذًا هذه الشكوك: فبينما تنعم بعض البلدان بوفرة طائلة من الخيرات، والقسم الأكبر من سكّانها يتغنّون باسم الرّب يسوع المسيح، يحرم غيرها من ضروريّات الحياة وبعضها ويتحمّلون الجوع والمرض وكلّ أنواع البؤس. فروح الفقر والمحبّة علامة لكنيسة المسيح ومجدها. ولذا يجب إسداء الثناء والتشجيع لأولئك المسيحيّين، ونخصّ منهم الشبّان، الذين يتقدّمون تلقائيًّا لإسعاف الغير من البشر والشعوب…
وإنّه لمن الضروري جدًّا، أن تكون الكنيسة حاضرة في جماعة الأمم لتشجيع التعاون بين الجميع وللحثّ عليه. وذلك سواء بالهيئات الرسميّة أو بمساهمة جميع المسيحيّين مساهمة كليّة مخلصة تمليها الرغبة في منفعة الجميع… وفي هذا الصدد يجب أن تولى عناية خاصّة لتنشئة الشبّان سواء في التربية الدينيّة أو في التربية الوطنيّة.
وأمنيتنا أخيرًا هي أن يبحث الكاثوليك عن تعاون إيجابي وفعّال، سواء مع إخوتهم المنفصلين الذين، باتّحادهم بهم، يجاهرون بالحبّ الإنجيلي، أو مع البشر الذين يفتّشون عن السلام الحقّ، وذلك ليقوموا بدورهم في الجماعة الدوليّة على أتمّ وجه.
The uncovering and failure of the Jews’ Conspiracy to Kill Paul
Acts of the Apostles 23/12-22/:”In the morning the Jews joined in a conspiracy and bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. There were more than forty who joined in this conspiracy. They went to the chief priests and elders and said, ‘We have strictly bound ourselves by an oath to taste no food until we have killed Paul. Now then, you and the council must notify the tribune to bring him down to you, on the pretext that you want to make a more thorough examination of his case. And we are ready to do away with him before he arrives.’Now the son of Paul’s sister heard about the ambush; so he went and gained entrance to the barracks and told Paul. Paul called one of the centurions and said, ‘Take this young man to the tribune, for he has something to report to him.’So he took him, brought him to the tribune, and said, ‘The prisoner Paul called me and asked me to bring this young man to you; he has something to tell you.’ The tribune took him by the hand, drew him aside privately, and asked, ‘What is it that you have to report to me?’ He answered, ‘The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire more thoroughly into his case. But do not be persuaded by them, for more than forty of their men are lying in ambush for him. They have bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink until they kill him. They are ready now and are waiting for your consent.’ So the tribune dismissed the young man, ordering him, ‘Tell no one that you have informed me of this.’”
