In the intricate tapestry of Lebanese history, a rich blend of collective thought and experience has, unfortunately, been relegated to the margins of obscurity for many decades.
This oversight might be attributed to our preoccupation with incessant political bickering, which constantly diverts our attention. It could also be due to the prevalence of simplistic narratives that offer quick answers, devoid of the intricate and creative nuances that define our heritage.
Furthermore, we often find ourselves seeking traces of backwardness and prejudice in our past, rather than acknowledging the creativity that binds us together as a society.
Perhaps it’s about our shared experiences, which have shaped us in a common geography and a history we’ve crafted ourselves, despite our physical distance and separateness, much like the pillars of a temple, bestowing upon us a shared identity that we, regrettably, fail to recognize or embrace.
Every component of the Lebanese mosaic, originating from different parts of Lebanon’s history, has embarked on its unique journey in various times, places, and environments. Nevertheless, it is geography and history that unite us as Lebanese, transcending the differences that set us apart. What we lack is the resolve to coexist through a collective decision.
To truly see the bright side of ourselves, we must cast aside our limitations and seek the truth with unwavering conviction.
The first step towards this enlightenment is to explore the annals of our history and the thoughts of our people, to understand not just our own past but that of our fellow citizens. This exploration is the key to forming a renewed, unburdened, and genuine sense of unity among us, a people with a profound shared experience. Even in our physical distance, we must build a barrier against the seeds of external conspiracies and the darkness and hostility that may lurk among us.
Some might argue that our history is marred by conflicts and seeds of division. Yet, it is worth remembering that fire does not ignite without the friction of interaction and the heat of engagement. Civilization and progress arise from such sparks.
Ultimately, the choice is ours – to either be burnt by the flames of our history due to ignorance or to harness its warmth with knowledge, understanding, readiness, and acceptance. We must utilize this warmth to combat the prevailing cold of division in our present and illuminate our future and the future of our children.
With 1400 years of interaction and shared history, we have all the elements to transcend the constraints of petty differences and start sculpting a grand narrative – the narrative of the Lebanese nation.
This nation, a proud and independent entity, should define itself, unaffected by external influences. It should represent the aspirations of all its people. The question that remains is, do we, as Lebanese, have the courage to embark on this journey?

نتاج الفكروالتاريخ والتجربة اللبنانية المشتركة مهمش ومنسي لعقود طويلة. ربما بسبب تلهينا كشعب بالمعلقات السياسية التافهة التي نقرأها ونتمحص بها كل يوم. او بسبب رواج الكتب المبتزلة الفارغة التي تعطينا الاجوبة معلبة بدون العملية التوالدية الابداعية الاستشرافية. او بسبب اننا اذا نبشنا خزائن الماضي لنستفيد منها ونتمثل بها في حاضرنا فأننا نبحث بشغف عن بذور التخلف والتعصب وعما يثير الغرائز وينكاء النعرات، وليس عن جذور الابداع التي تشدنا الى بعضنا بعض كمجتمع. اوعن مساحات التجربة المشتركة التي طورتنا في جغرافيا واحدة موحدة وتاريخ اطرناه ونحتناه نحن بايدينا ولو متباعدين ومتفرقين كاعمدة الهيكل وبالتالي اعطانا طابع مشترك نرفض ان نراه او ان نحتضنه ولو عن سبيل التجربة.
كل مكون لبناني من مكونات لبنان ابتداء مشواره في تاريخ لبنان من زمن أومكان وبيئة مختلفة ولكن أنا ارى ان ما يجمعنا كلبنانيين هو الجغرافيا والتاريخ وهواكثر بكثير (وبما لا يقاس) مما يفرقنا ولكن ينقصنا ارادة العيش المشترك بقرار ذاتي كياني نهائي وبذلك علينا ان نتخلى عن محدودياتنا ونبحث عن الحقيقة بقلب مؤمن واثق لنرى الجانب الحقيقي والمشرق من ذواتنا.
اول الغيث هو البداء باكتشاف تاريخنا وماضينا ( وماضي كل فئة من مكونات الشعب اللبناني) في كتب التاريخ والفكر. في خطوة لاكتشاف انفسنا واكتشاف الاخر الذي يشاركنا الوطن. وتكوين فكرة متجددة ومتجردة وحقيقية عنا كشعب وحدته التجربة المشتركة الطويلة وان متباعدة، لا تدخل فيها بذور دسائس الابعدون، ولا سوداوية وعدوانية الاقربون.
قد يقول البعض ولكن تاريخنا ملئه النزاعات وبذور التفرقة. وانا اقول ان النار بدون عنف الاحتكاك وحماوة التفاعل لا تشتعل ولكن بدونها ما كان حضارة وتقدم، فالقرار لنا في النهاية ان نستعمل نار تاريخنا لنحرق اصابعنا، او نستعملها بعلم ومعرفة وتحضروقبول. ونستغل حرارتها برجاء المؤمن لندخل دفاء نارها الى حاضرنا المملؤ بصقيع التفرقة، وننير بها مستقبلنا ومستقبل اولادنا.
ان 1400 سنة من التفاعل يجب ان تكون كافية لتطلق مسار تغلب الجغرافيا على التواريخ الصغيرة وبداء صناعة وقولبة التاريخ الكبير تاريخ الآمة اللبنانية السيدة المستقلة الغير منعوتة إلا بذاتها والتي تعبر عن ارادة وتطلعات كافة ابنائها، فهل سيكون لدينا الشجاعة نحن كلبنانيين ان نتبنى هذه الطريق وهذا المسار؟
