Elias Bejjani/September 23/2025
I extend my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of my friend George Zogheib, as well as to his loved ones and all who knew him, accompanied with prayers that his soul may rest in the heavenly dwellings among the righteous and the faithful. We knew George as a man always ready to extend a helping hand to others, and he personally stood by me and my family when we first arrived in Canada. His passing is not only a loss to his family, but also to our entire community and to everyone who had the blessing of knowing him. May the Lord grant mercy to his soul. Our comfort as believers is that death, in our Christian faith, is not the end, but a passage from this earthly life to eternal life. As Scripture reminds us: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25), and also: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
(7250 W Credit Ave, Mississauga, ON L5N5N1).
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Glen Oaks Funeral Home (3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, ON L6H 7A8). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Charbel Church (7250 W Credit Ave, Mississauga, ON L5N5N1).

Obituary Overview
George Zogheib
In Loving Memory of George Zogheib
June 10, 1939 – September 18, 2025
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of George Zogheib on September 18, 2025, at the age of 86, after a short but courageous battle with advanced lymphoma.
Born on June 10, 1939, to Nasri Zogheib and Adele Karam, George lived a life rich in love, laughter, and meaning. He was the beloved husband of Therese Khairallah, his devoted wife of 59 beautiful years. Their marriage was a shining example of deep love, unwavering commitment, and strong partnership.
Together, George and Therese built a close-knit and loving family, raising three accomplished children: Christine Di Scola (Peter), Danny Zogheib (Lisa), and Hadi Zogheib (Barbara). George was immensely proud of his family and found great joy in watching them thrive.
He was affectionately known as “Gido” to his cherished grandchildren — Jordan (Hannah), Miranda (engaged to Patric), Ryan, Michael, Rafael, and Leo — and his great-granddaughter, Charlotte. They all brought him immeasurable joy and endless pride.
George was a dear brother to Odette Melkoun, Samira Zoghbi, Nouhad Aoun, Nawal Abounassar (his last surviving sibling), and his half-sister, Juliette Nasri Zogheib. He shared a special bond with Uncle Simaan, who held a unique and cherished place in his life.
George was a mentor, a cheerleader, and a confidant — not only to his children and grandchildren, but to his many nieces and nephews who saw him as more than an uncle, but as a true friend and wise counsel. He adored his family and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments, always their biggest supporter.
To know George was to be drawn in by his charm, warmth, and zest for life. He celebrated every moment, filling rooms with laughter, stories, poetry, music, and his infectious energy. A lover of nature and all things beautiful, George carried a youthful spirit that never dimmed. His love for art, culture, tennis, and humanity defined the way he lived and connected with others.
Deeply rooted in his Lebanese heritage, George frequently reminisced about the beauty and history of his homeland, and kept the traditions alive for his family. He first moved to Canada in 1975, a country he embraced wholeheartedly and proudly called home, and a place to build a strong future for his children.
Charismatic and joyful, George had the remarkable ability to light up any room and leave a lasting impression on all who met him. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and unshakable devotion to his family.
He will be forever remembered, eternally adored, and deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, Gido. Your light lives on in each of us.
