لص اليمن من على الصليب: «يا يَسُوع، أُذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَمَا تَأْتِي في مَلَكُوتِكَ!». فقَالَ لَهُ يَسُوع: «أَلحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكَ: أَليَومَ تَكُونُ مَعِي في الفِرْدَوس!».

وكانَتْ أَيْضًا فَوْقَهُ لَوْحَةٌ كُتِبَ فِيهَا: «هذَا هُوَ مَلِكُ اليَهُود». وكانَ أَحَدُ المُجْرِمَيْنِ المُعَلَّقَينِ عَلَى الصَّلِيبِ يُجَدِّفُ عَلَى يَسُوعَ قَائِلاً: «أَلَسْتَ أَنْتَ المَسِيح؟ خَلِّصْ نَفْسَكَ، وَخَلِّصْنَا!».فَأَجَابَ الآخَرُ وٱنْتَهَرَهُ قَائِلاً: «أَمَا تَخَافُ اللهَ وَأَنْتَ تَحْتَ هذَا الحُكْمِ نَفْسِهِ؟ فَنَحْنُ بِعَدْلٍ حُكِمَ عَلَيْنا، لأَنَّنَا نَلْقَى مَا تَسْتَوْجِبُهُ أَعْمَالُنَا، أَمَّا هذَا الرَّجُلُ فَلَمْ يَفْعَلْ شَيْئًا سَيِّئًا!». ثُمَّ أَخَذَ يَقُول: «يا يَسُوع، أُذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَمَا تَأْتِي في مَلَكُوتِكَ!». فقَالَ لَهُ يَسُوع: «أَلحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكَ: أَليَومَ تَكُونُ مَعِي في الفِرْدَوس!».
