منبر المؤسسين الدروز في لبنان يستنكر بيان السقطة الرئاسية المرتهن والمسيس الصادر عقب مصافحة الرئيس عون والشيخ موفق طريف في حاضرة الفاتيكان 21 أيار/2025 عقد منبر المؤسسين الدروز إجتماعا عبر تقنية زووم وتباحث في ٱخر التطورات، أبرزها موقف رئيس الجمهورية جوزيف عون المتعلق بمصافحة الشيخ موفق طريف. وندد بالبيان الصادر عن مستشاري رئيس الجمهورية الذين لا يؤمنون بالشراكة الوطنية، مستنكرا هذه السقطة الرئاسية التي لما كان تجرأ عليها الرئيس لو تمت مع رجل دين مسلم، معتبرا أنها إعتداء على مشاعر دروز لبنان والعالم أينما وجدوا. وأصدر منبر المؤسسين الدروز في لبنان بعد التداول البيان التالي: تبين من أداء المكتب الإعلامي الرئاسي في قصر بعبدا أنه لا يعدو عن كونه فرقة من التقليديين البعيدين عن الواقع والمتغيرات الحاصلة في المنطقة. لقد شكل بيانهم المرتهن والمسيس بإسم رئيس الجمهورية جوزيف عون حول مصافحته للرئيس الروحي للطائفة الدرزية في إسرائيل الشيخ موفق طريف إدانة للرئيس نفسه عبر تبريرهم أنه لا يعرف من هو الضيف، مما سبب مذمة للرئيس وموقع الرئاسة اللبنانية للأسباب النالية: 1- أظهر مستشارو الرئيس أنه غائب ومغيب عما يجري حوله على مستوى المنطقة والعالم وغير متابع للأحداث، ولم يتعرف على رئيس روحي لطائفة عريقة في الشرق الأوسط، الذي التقى مراراً نخبة من رؤساء العالم، رافعا القضية الدرزية في عواصم القرار في العالم وفي الشرق الأوسط. وتم نقل هذه اللقاءات عبر وسائل الإعلام الدولية والعالمية. 2- اظهر البيان أن الرئيس لا يأبه بالبروتزكولات وٱداب الضيافة الدبلوماسية اي إن كنت ضيفا عليك بإحترام جميع الضيوف في المكان المُضيف. وإن أرادوا السلام عليك فما عليك إلا رد السلام، وإلا إنه لمن من الأفضل عدم تلبية الدعوة، إذ أن بروتوكلات الضيافة ليست لعبة او مطية لمٱرب سياسية، عقائدية او إيديولوجية. 3- أظهر المكتب الإعلامي عدم إحترام رئيس الجمهورية اللبنانية جوزيف عون لدروز لبنان والعالم ذات الأغلبية المؤيدة والمحبة للأمين الشيخ موفق طريف. كما أظهر عدم إحترام لراي شريحة من المسيحيين في لبنان والمنطقة الذين ينظرون إلى الشيخ طريف بإعتباره يمثل رأيهم وطموحهم تجاه حكومات ديمقراطية تعددية الشراكة. 4- ظهر المكتب الإعلامي بأنه معاد ٍ للطائفة الدرزية العقلانية المستقلة، فلو كانت المصافحة مع رجل دين مسلم لما كان هذا السيل من النكران والإنكار ولما كان هذا البيان المعيب للرئيس اولا وثم لدروز لبنان والعالم ثانيًا. بيروت في 21 ٱيار 2025
Druze Founders’ Platform in Lebanon Condemns Reckless and Politicized Statement Issued Following President Aoun’s Handshake with Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif at the Vatican Date: May 21, 2025 (Free Translation from Arabic by: Elias Bejjani)
The Druze Founders’ Platform convened via Zoom to discuss recent developments, particularly the controversial response to President Joseph Aoun’s handshake with Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif. The platform condemned the statement issued by the President’s advisors—individuals who, it said, clearly lack a true commitment to national partnership—and criticized what it called a “presidential blunder.” The platform emphasized that such a gesture would not have been met with the same reaction had it involved a Muslim cleric, calling the incident an affront to Druze communities in Lebanon and around the world.
Following its deliberations, the Platform issued the following statement: It is now evident that the Presidential Press Office at Baabda Palace functions more like a disconnected faction of outdated traditionalists, oblivious to regional and international developments. Its biased and politicized statement—issued in the name of President Joseph Aoun to justify his handshake with Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel—is, in truth, a condemnation of the President himself. Claiming that the President did not know who his guest was only deepens the embarrassment for the presidency and the Lebanese nation.
First, this justification reveals a President out of touch with the regional and global landscape. Sheikh Tarif is a widely recognized spiritual leader who has engaged repeatedly with prominent world figures, championing the Druze cause in major international and Middle Eastern capitals. His meetings have been widely covered by the international media.
Second, the President’s response displays a disregard for diplomatic norms and basic protocol. As host, one is expected to treat all guests with courtesy and respect. If a guest offers a handshake, one must reciprocate. If the President was unwilling to do so, he should have declined the invitation altogether. Hospitality and protocol are not tools for political, sectarian, or ideological manipulation.
Third, the statement reflects clear disrespect toward the Druze community both in Lebanon and globally—many of whom hold Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif in high esteem. It also disregards the views of numerous Christians in Lebanon and the region who consider Sheikh Tarif a voice of moderation, pluralism, and democratic partnership.
Finally, the Baabda Palace Press Office’s reaction reveals a hostile stance toward the rational, independent Druze voice. Had the handshake been with a Muslim cleric, there would have been no such outcry or shameful denial. This response not only discredits the President but insults the dignity of the Druze in Lebanon and across the world.
