الكولونيل شربل بركات يستنكر بيان رئاسة الجمهورية اللبنانية الذي صدر تعليقاً على مصافحة الرئيس عون والشيخ طريف في الفاتيكان

بعد لقاء غير منظّم تم خلال وجود الرئيس جوزيف عون ورئيس طائفة الموحدين الدروز في اسرائيل الشيخ موفق طريف على هامش المشاركة بالقداس الأول لتسلم حبرية البابا لاوون الرابع عشر لمهامه، حيث تمت المصافحة بين الرجلين، وهي دليل احترام من قبل الرئيس عون لما يمثله الشيخ طريف في الطائفة الدرزية، قام مكتب الاعلام في القصر الجمهوري، والذي لا يزال كما يبدو من بقايا العهد السابق، بالتعليق على الخبر بطريقة غير لائقة لا للرئيس عون ولا للشيخ طريف وما يمثله. فالشيخ طريف من خريجي خلوات البياضة في حاصبيا ولو كان يحمل الجنسية الاسرائيلية، وهو حفيد شيخ عقل الدروز السابق الشيخ أمين طريف الذي أمضى 65 سنة رئيسا روحيا لدروز اسرائيل، وهو أيضا من خريجي البياضة وله احترامه بين الدروز حيثما وجدوا، وليس لرئيس أو أي موظف في أية دولة الحق باهانة رجل بقيمته وقدره، ولو كان بعض من استمر في منصبه لا يزال يعيش بروحية الارهاب وتنظيماته التي تصنّف الناس بدون معرفة ولا أدب. من هنا وجب على الرئيس عون الاعتذار من الطائفة الدرزية باسرائيل والدروز حول العالم بسبب قلة معرفة هذا الموظف الذي تسبب بالاحراج وقد يتطور الموضوع لأكثر من ذلك.
الشيخ طريف رجل دين يحترم أينما حل لما يمثل وليس لآرائه السياسية أو الاجتماعية، ولو أنه موزون في كل ما يقول ويعرف أصول اللياقة والديبلوماسية، ولا يجوز لأي شخصية لا تعرف بالبروتوكولات أن تصنّف الأشخاص وتتعدى على كرامتهم.
Colonel Charbel Barakat Condemns the Lebanese Presidency’s Statement Regarding President Aoun’s Handshake with Sheikh Tarif at the Vatican

During an unscheduled meeting at the Vatican on the sidelines of Pope Leo XIV’s first mass following his assumption of the papacy, President Joseph Aoun met and shook hands with Sheikh Muwaffaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel. This gesture signified President Aoun’s respect for what Sheikh Tarif represents to Druze communities both in Israel and worldwide.
However, the presidential media office—still seemingly operating with the rhetoric and mindset of the previous era—commented on the event in a manner inappropriate and disrespectful, not only to President Aoun but also to Sheikh Tarif and the values he embodies.
Sheikh Tarif, though an Israeli citizen, is a graduate of the revered Khalwat al-Bayada in Hasbaya and the grandson of the late Sheikh Amin Tarif, who served as the spiritual leader of the Druze in Israel for 65 years. Like his grandfather, Sheikh Tarif is widely respected by Druze communities everywhere for his religious and spiritual leadership.
No president, official, or government employee has the right to demean or belittle a man of such stature. Unfortunately, some individuals still entrenched in official positions appear to cling to a mindset rooted in ideological extremism—classifying people with ignorance and without dignity.
President Aoun must issue a clear apology to the Druze community in Israel and around the world for the inappropriate and ill-informed remarks made by a member of his communications team. Such an affront not only caused unnecessary embarrassment but also risks escalating tensions.
Sheikh Tarif is a man of religion and dignity, respected for what he represents rather than for any political or social affiliations. He is known for his measured words, deep understanding of protocol, and diplomatic conduct. No one lacking in these qualities has the right to judge or undermine the dignity of others.
