For an internationally protected zone for Yazidis, Christians and other minorities in Iraq
Last week a joint delegation of Yazidi and Christian NGOs was received at the United Nations Security Council and the Secretariat General of the UN to receive a memorandum offering solutions for the immediate and farther future of Iraq embattled minorities. The memorandum was submitted to the US, French, UK, and Russian Missions at the UN Security Council and the Italian Mission as Italy hold the current Presidency of the European Union. And it was also discussed at the Political Department of the Secretariat General. The memorandum, which was well received by UN official called for the establishment of an internationally protected zone in Iraq for all ethnic religious minorities and for the enabling of a local self Government and defense for these endangered groups.
Representatives from the joint delegation and members of Think Tanks will be rolling out the memorandum and briefing the media and the audience about the meetings and the next steps
At a time the United States, the UK, NATO and Arab moderate countries are consulting on the best strategies to confront ISIS, the most brutalized victims of the Jihadi Terror regime are moving to secure their future.
